Novato High School has named former Major League Lacrosse player Nolan Godfrey as the school’s first full-time athletic director.

Nolan has spent the better part of the last decade owning a sports management firm that delivers programming and events to a national audience. He also brings a specialty in college athletics recruitment for student-athletes and their families. More than 500 players have reached the college level with his mentorship and guidance. Godfrey has experience in overseeing budgets, facilities, capital improvement projects, coaching staff, fundraising and optimizing program resources.

“My initial emphasis will be on three core elements – building quality relationships, strengthening levels of communication, and bringing clarity and transparency of the NHS Athletics mission to all community stakeholders,” said Godfrey.

Citing a community-wide engagement that the NHS AD position entails, Godfrey added, “Not only will I look to enhance the experience for students at the high school level, I will also be a liaison and leader for the area youth sports landscape to benefit from. Vertical integration of K-12 programming in each of our feeder systems is essential for our high school programs to thrive.”

Godfrey’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Physiology from the University of Massachusetts and graduate level study in Coaching with a focus in Sport Psychology at Boston University.

“I feel a strong team concept with the administration and am excited for the future. I’m very thankful for the confidence the district has in me to help student-athletes in the Novato community be their best.”
